COURSE SUMMARY

Prerequisite: CompTIA Net+

IT Security at Tech901 provides students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to identify, assess, and respond to today's cybersecurity threats. Building upon the networking and infrastructure concepts introduced through CompTIA Network+, this course prepares students for the CompTIA Security+ certification while introducing the principles, tools, and practices used to protect modern technology environments.

Through instructor-led lessons and hands-on labs, students gain experience working with cybersecurity concepts including threat detection, risk management, identity and access management, network security, incident response, and security operations. Students learn how to evaluate security risks, implement protective controls, and support secure technology environments across a variety of business settings.

The course covers essential cybersecurity topics including security architecture, governance and compliance, vulnerability management, cloud security, cryptography, endpoint protection, and security monitoring. Through practical exercises and real-world scenarios, students develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to identify threats and support organizational security objectives.

By the end of IT Security, students will be prepared to pursue the CompTIA Security+ certification, one of the most widely recognized cybersecurity credentials in the industry.
