Course Description IT Security is a course designed to introduce Tech901 students to the rapidly-changing field of information technology security (InfoSec). Through instruction about both soft business approaches and technical security hardening, students will have a foundation for either entry-level work or further specialization. The main goal for students is preparation for and completion of the Security+ certification from CompTIA. The Security+ credential prepares students for work as support agents in both technical and non-technical roles supporting enterprise information security. Job roles could include: IT Auditor, IT Security Analyst, Administrator or Engineer. The content for this course is provided by the Tech901 Moodle learning management system at https://moodle.tech901.org.Additional virtual lab and practice exam materials will be provided through TestOut’s virtual course platform. Career Services Training Scheduled class times will be reserved for Career Services Training. In this time we’ll cover topics such as Resume Building, Professionalism, Interview Practice, and opportunities for Professional Networking. Grades and Attendance Students are expected to attend class each day and attendance will be taken. Tech901’s academic policy states that a student can be dismissed from the class after five (5) absences. Tutoring and Review All students are invited to come for extra help during non-class times. This can often be the best way to get the necessary help for mastering the content required for the certification exam.
